When someone calls the number we give a charter captain, the call can be answered right away by an automated assistant — or, if the captain has their own number forwarded to us, the assistant picks up only if they don’t answer in time. Either way it says up front that it is automated and that the call may be recorded.

What happens on the call
From there they can talk it through, and it asks what the captain needs before ringing back: the dates they want, how many people are coming, what kind of fishing they’re after, and who to call on what number.
It reads the answers back to check them, tells them the captain will call, and that’s the end of the call. The captain comes back to shore with the details already waiting.

They call, nobody can pick up
The boat is out, or the captain’s hands are full. The call is answered automatically with a short spoken greeting that names the business, tells the caller they’re speaking to an automated assistant, and tells them the call may be recorded — before they’ve said anything, and they can’t talk over it.

They talk it through, on that call
Instead of a voicemail beep, the caller talks to an AI assistant that listens and answers out loud. No menus, no keypad, and nothing to call back for — the conversation happens while they still have the phone to their ear.

It takes the trip details
It asks for the dates they want, how many people are coming and the kind of fishing they’re after, then their name and best number — one thing at a time, waiting for each answer. It never invents a price, quotes only what the captain has chosen to publish and only as written, never says a date is free, and never books anything — those stay with the captain.

The captain calls back
It reads the details back and asks whether anything is wrong or missing, so a mishearing gets caught on the call rather than on the callback. Then it says the captain will ring as soon as they can, and the call ends. The captain opens the dashboard to the caller’s number, their answers, and a summary of what was said.
